Indore. After playing a match-winning 68 off 34 balls in India’s six-wicket win over Afghanistan, opener Yashasvi Jaiswal said his intention was to bat with a good strike rate in the successful chase of 173.
Yashasvi Jaiswal’s fourth T20 half-century and his 92-run partnership with Shivam Dubey helped India complete the chase with 26 balls to spare.
With this victory, India has taken a commanding lead of 2-0 in the three-match T20 series.
Yashasvi Jaiswal said, “I have been told to go and prove myself. I was focusing on giving good starts to my team. I was trying to keep my strike rate good. My focus was just on that. I have to bat with a good strike rate.”
The left-handed batsman missed the opening T20 match in Mohali due to a groin strain and said he is always ready to contribute for the team.
“It’s about working hard in the practice sessions. Whenever I get a chance, I try to contribute for the team,” Jaiswal said.
Jaiswal also shared a 57-run partnership for the second wicket with Virat Kohli, who scored 29 runs in 16 balls, and he enjoyed his partnership with the charismatic batsman.
On this partnership, the young player said, “It was really good to be at the crease with him. Whenever I bat with Virat bhaiya, I get to learn a lot.”
