Other two Indian women boxers Manisha Maun (from Haryana) and Parveen Hooda (from Haryana) won bronze medals in 57 kg and 63 kg categories respectively. Boxers Preeti, Sanamcha Chanu will represent India in the 54kg and 70kg categories. Young boxers Preeti and Sanamacha Chanu will contest in the 54kg and 70kg categories respectively. Expecting great performance from Nikhat Zareen and Lovlina
India has high hopes from Nikhat Zareen and Lovlina in the absence of veteran boxer Mary Kom. Last time Nikhat had won the gold medal by performing brilliantly. Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games gold medalist Neetu Ghanghas will represent the country in the 48kg category. This time she can create history. Indian players will get a challenge from Olympic winning boxers. The 2019 world champion will compete in the featherweight (57kg) category. Brazil’s Beatriz Lasmin Ferreira (60 kg) and China’s Qian Li (75 kg) have also won silver medals in the Tokyo Olympics. Japan’s Sukimi Namiki and Colombia’s Ingrit Lorena Valencia would like to continue their World Championship-like performance in flyweight (51kg). Tokyo Olympics bronze medalist Ermatesta is also a strong medal contender in featherweight (57kg).

For the first time, Rs 20 crore will be distributed as prize money in the Women’s World Championship. An amount of more than Rs 82 lakh will be given for winning the gold medal.
