Saba Karim has backed Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan: Former India selector and wicket-keeper batsman Saba Karim has called for the upcoming Asia Cup and ODI World Cup. Suryakumar Yadav And Ishaan Kishan Has been described as the best option for the middle order. BCCI can soon announce Team India for both these important tournaments and everyone hopes that KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer are ready to return fully fit. However, if even one of them is not able to make a comeback, then in such a situation discussions are being seen everywhere about which players have the option available with Team India.
Ishan Kishan better option than KL Rahul
Saba Karim said during a press conference organized by Geo Cinema that ‘the selectors should keep KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer in mind. If he is fit then he can be included in the team. But the wait is not over, as far as I know the team will be announced on 20th, they have time till then. But if he is not fit, then Ishaan Kishan is a good option in place of Rahul as he can open the batsman and bat in the middle order.
Suryakumar Yadav best at number 5
While Karim named three players for the number 5 slot, he said that senior batsman Suryakumar Yadav would be his first choice. He said, ‘If Shreyas Iyer is not fit, then you have 2-3 options to choose from, Tilak Verma, Sanju Samson and Suryakumar Yadav. But for me, Suryakumar Yadav has gained the experience of playing ODI cricket both domestically and internationally. So my choice will be the same.
Right decision to give captaincy to Bumrah
Regarding the return of Jasprit Bumrah in the T20 series against Ireland, Saba Karim said that even though it is a T20 series, Bumrah will have to work harder after getting the responsibility of captaincy. In such a situation, we all will be able to get a better idea about his fitness. The Indian team will benefit greatly from Bumrah getting a chance to play in all the matches before the World Cup.
