Transport Minister gave assurance to the unions

Transport Minister R Ramalinga Reddy has assured the private transport unions that he will try to meet most of their demands. After which the unions called off the strike. The minister has agreed to 27 out of 30 demands. Information about this decision has been given by S Nataraj Sharma, President of Federation of Karnataka State Private Transport Association.

The Karnataka State Federation of Private Transport Associations had called for the bandh to press for their various demands and the police had warned of strict action against those committing any mischief. Private vehicles including autos, taxis, maxi cabs, goods vehicles and corporate buses have disappeared from the roads. Bengaluru Airport Authority has also advised passengers to make necessary arrangements to reach the airport on time in view of the bandh.

Police Commissioner said this

Bengaluru Police Commissioner B. Dayanand told PTI that adequate security arrangements have been made across the city as a precautionary measure to deal with any untoward incident. He said that all our officers including senior officers are on patrol and we have also used tracking forces in sufficient numbers at all strategic locations. We have also talked to those organizations which are joining the strike. They will gather at Freedom Park where the protest will be organised.

The public faced a lot of trouble

To reduce the inconvenience caused to the public due to the bandh, Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) is running more buses in the city and Kempegowda International Airport today. Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy had recently said that the government is ready for talks with the federation and is also making preparations to ensure that the public faces minimum inconvenience.

Traffic police issued advisory

Meanwhile, the Bengaluru Traffic Police has issued an advisory alerting commuters about possible disruption in the operation of taxis, maxi cabs, private buses and auto rickshaws due to the bandh. It said that there may be disruption in the operation of taxis, maxi cabs, private buses and auto rickshaws. Therefore, all people are advised to use alternative roads and plan their journey accordingly.
