IND vs AUS: Ashwin breaks veteran Anil Kumble’s record, joins Shane Warne and Muralitharan’s list

Nagpur: Ravichandran Ashwin registered himself in a big record book in the Test match being played against Australia in Nagpur. Ashwin has become the fastest bowler for India to take 450 Test wickets. Alex Carey became Ashwin’s 450th Test victim. Ashwin has now gone past India’s Anil Kumble, Glenn McGrath, Shane Warne and Nathan Lyon in terms of taking the fastest Test wicket. Ravi Ashwin achieved this feat in his 89th match. Not only this, Ashwin has also taken 91 wickets in 18 matches against Australia. In such a situation, to complete the century of wickets against the Kangaroo team, he has to dismiss only 7 batsmen. In the Indian innings, Ashwin bowled 15.5 overs and took three wickets.

Second fastest 450 wickets after Muralitharan

Please tell that Ravichandran Ashwin not only took 450 wickets in Test cricket. Rather, he has become the fastest spin bowler after Sri Lanka’s Muttiah Muralitharan to reach this figure. Muralitharan took 450 wickets in his 80th Test match, while India’s Anil Kumble has now slipped to third place. Kumble achieved this feat in his 93rd Test.

Second Indian to take 450 wickets

Ashwin has become the second bowler to take 450 wickets for India in Test cricket. Before Ashwin, Anil Kumble has done this feat for India. On the other hand, if we talk about taking the most wickets in Test cricket, it is in the name of Sri Lankan great spinner Muttiah Muralitharan. He has taken 800 wickets in 133 Test matches. Apart from this, the second number is Shane Warne of Australia, who has taken 708 wickets in 145 Test matches. At the third place is India’s Anil Kumble. Kumble has taken 619 wickets in 132 Test matches.

On the other hand, Ashwin is the ninth bowler in the world to have taken 450 wickets in Tests. Although five of these cricketers have retired while apart from Ashwin, James Anderson, Stuart Broad and Nathan Lyon are still playing for their respective countries.

Apart from Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja performed amazingly in the match. He returned with a bang and took five wickets in his name. Earlier, for India, Mohammad Siraj and Mohammad Shami got the initial wickets for Team India. In the match, Australia captain Pat Cummins won the toss and decided to bat first.
