Indore: The third Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia is being played at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore from Friday, March 01. With the start of the third Test, history has been created at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. In fact, with this match being played between Team India and Australia, a new custom has been started at Holkar Stadium. The match begins with the bell ringing just like Lord’s and Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
At the same time, the tradition of starting the international cricket match by ringing the bell has also started in Holkar Stadium. An official of the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) had given this information before the match on Tuesday. The official had told that a big brass bell has been installed in front of the dressing room of the players at Holkar Stadium. “Five minutes before the start of cricket on each day of the India-Australia Test, different celebrities will formally signal the start of play by ringing this bell,” he said. With this, Indore’s Holkar Stadium will join the ranks of famous grounds like Lord’s in London and Eden Gardens in Kolkata, where the tradition of starting an international cricket match by ringing a bell is followed, he said.
Along with this, the official also told that before the start of India-Australia Test, the statue of India’s first Test captain CK Nayudu will also be unveiled at Holkar Stadium. After the unveiling, the statue is planned to be kept in the proposed museum of the MPCA. Let us tell you that this statue unveiling ceremony was done immediately after the toss in which India captain Rohit Sharma and Australia’s stand-in captain Steve Smith along with Richard Holkar of Indore’s former Holkar dynasty and former BCCI secretary Sanjay Jagdale were also seen.
