Team India’s star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja took seven wickets to bowl out Australia for just 113 runs on the third day of the second match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy on Sunday. Australia started the day at 61 runs for the loss of one wicket but Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin Brilliant bowling performance piled him on the score of 113. Of the seven wickets taken by Jadeja, five were bowled out and this happened after almost 21 years, when a spinner achieved such a feat.
Jadeja became the second Indian after Kumble
Indian spinner Anil Kumble has done this feat against South Africa in 1992 before Ravindra Jadeja. He also bowled five South African batsmen. Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar achieved a similar feat against New Zealand in Lahore in 2002.
250 wickets in Jadeja’s Test
Ravindra Jadeja has another achievement in his name. He has become the fastest Indian all-rounder to take 250 wickets and score 2500 runs in Test cricket. On the first day of the second Test, he dismissed Australian opener Usman Khawaja and completed his 250 wickets in the longest format. In the second innings, Jadeja dismissed seven batsmen with the magic of his spin. He has taken 10 wickets in both the innings.
Kapil Dev broke record
Jadeja became the fastest Indian to achieve the double record of 250 wickets and 2500 runs in Tests, surpassing the legendary Kapil Dev. Jadeja achieved this feat in his 62nd Test. By doing so, he has become the second fastest all-rounder in the world. At number one is Ian Botham, who has achieved this feat in 55 Tests. Imran Khan’s number comes after Jadeja. Kapil Dev is at number four in this list.
India beat Australia by 6 wickets
Due to the brilliant performance of Jadeja and Ashwin, India defeated Australia by 6 wickets after lunch on the third day and took a 2-0 lead in the series. India also won the Nagpur Test on the third day itself. Australia’s innings started at the loss of 1 wicket on the third day, but Jadeja and Ashwin stacked the visiting team on a total score of 113 before lunch. Later India won by losing four wickets.
