India defeated Australia in a low-scoring match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday. India defeated Australia 4-1 in the five-match T20 series. Indian bowlers performed amazingly today.
Mukesh Kumar, who returned to play the series after getting married, took three wickets and did not allow any Australian batsman to dominate. Earlier, after losing the toss, India had given Australia a target of 161 runs to win. But the Australian team collapsed at 154.
In response to Shreyas Iyer’s half-century, Ben McDermott also played a brilliant inning of 54 runs for Australia. But could not make his team win. Arshdeep Singh ended Ben’s innings. Travis Head scored 28 runs and Matthew Wade scored 22 runs.
In bowling, apart from Mukesh Kumar, Arshdeep Singh and Ravi Bishnoi took two wickets each for India. Bishnoi took a wicket in his very first over for the third consecutive match. Akshar Patel got a success, but he bowled the most economically. He gave 14 runs in four overs.
Earlier, the Indian team, which came to bat first, faltered on the slow pitch of Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal hit some brilliant shots but there could not be a big partnership between him and Ruturaj Gaikwad.
India scored only 42 runs in six overs of powerplay and during this both the opening batsmen returned to the pavilion. Jaiswal scored 21 runs on 15 balls and Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 10 runs on 12 balls. Jaiswal gave away his catch while trying to play a long shot, same was the case with Gaikwad.
After dismissing Gaikwad, Ben Dwarschwiss also sent captain Suryakumar Yadav to the pavilion on a personal score of five runs. Rinku Singh also could not show his magic and got caught at long on off the ball of leg spinner Tanveer Sangha. At that time he was playing after scoring six runs.
India’s top four batsmen were out on the score of 55. It was Shreyas Iyer who was stuck at one end. Iyer scored 53 runs on 37 balls. He hit five fours and two sixes in his par. Akshar Patel, who came to bat at number seven, contributed 31 runs with two fours and a six in 21 balls.
India could score only 61 runs in 10 overs. After this, 16 runs were scored in the next over of Dwarschwiss which also included a six and a four from Iyer. Jitesh Sharma was also batting well. But on the score of 24 runs, Hardy showed them the way to the pavilion.
After this, Akshar and Iyer made a partnership of 46 runs for the sixth wicket. Iyer completed his half-century in 36 balls by hitting a six in the last over of the innings of Nathan Ellis (one wicket for 42 runs). But he could not take the team’s score further by staying till the end.
