Pudhari Online Desk: IND vs AUS Test Series: By the end of 2024, Khelwalya Jana – or the border between India and Australia – is about to make a big change in the Gavaskar Test series. In both the associations, five Tests will be played instead of four. Cricket Australia made this announcement through Monday’s newsletter. For the first time since 1991-92, there will be five Test matches between the two countries and its schedule will be made public in the coming days, it has also been clarified.
After the information became public on Cricket Australia’s social media, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah said, ‘BCCI is always committed to carrying forward the legacy of Test cricket. There has always been respect for cricket or the longer format. Therefore, the cricket boards of India and Australia made efforts to organize a five-match series, which achieved success. This action shows the collective commitment of both the boards to increase the importance of Test cricket. Cricket Australia President Mike Byrd said, the five-match series between India and Australia is very important from the point of view of the World Test Championship. Given the intense competition between the two associations, it gives us great pleasure to extend the Border-Gavaskar Trophy to a five-match series.’
