India scored 119 runs on the first day
After bowling out England for 246 runs on the opening day of the first Test on Thursday, India were playing comfortably at 119 runs for one wicket at stumps. By the end of the day’s play, young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal was playing on 76 runs in 70 balls, while Shubman Gill was unbeaten on 14 runs. India got its first blow in the form of captain Rohit Sharma (24 runs).
India trailed England by 127 runs on the first day
On the first day, India was behind England by 127 runs in the first innings. But nothing seems difficult for India, because the team still had nine batsmen. The start of the visiting England team was not good. Openers Jack Crawley (20) and Ben Duckett (35) added 55 runs at a very good pace, but Ravichandran Ashwin gave India its first success by dismissing Duckett.
