India announces 17 players to play in Asia Cup squad, KL Rahul, Shrey Iyer, Samson ‘reserve players’

New Delhi:- India’s chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar on Monday announced the 17-player Asia Cup squad, and said that KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer have been picked after making timely recoveries from thigh and back injuries.
The squad also includes left-handed Tilak Verma, who is yet to make his ODI debut. Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah made his international comeback during the ongoing T20I series in Ireland after recovering from back surgery. The famous Krishna has also been selected as a bowler.
Mohammed Shami returns after being rested for the entire tour of the West Indies, while Mohammed Siraj and all-rounders Hardik Pandya and Shardul Thakur complete the pace attack. Leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has been dropped from the squad while Kuldeep Yadav has been preferred as the wrist spinner along with all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Akshar Patel.
After Rahul, Ishan Kishan was selected in place of Sanju Samson as the second wicketkeeper in the team. Samson, however, will go to Sri Lanka as a reserve player.
