India can rely on these spinners for Asia Cup, Ravi Shastri, Sandeep Patil suggested names

There is a lot of curiosity about the Indian cricket team’s Asia Cup 2023 team. Many other countries have announced their teams. Meanwhile, the BCCI is still waiting. The fitness of some of the top stars who are returning from injury is a matter of concern for the BCCI.
Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer come in that list, who are recovering from their injury. Since India is playing its Asia Cup match in Sri Lanka, the BCCI selectors may go with an additional spinner. This was the subject of discussion between former India coach Ravi Shastri along with former BCCI chief selector Sandeep Patil and MSK Prasad.
Patil chose Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal as the three spinners. Shastri said that four spinners could also be an option, with Akshar Patel being the fourth. Prasad, on his part, advocated the inclusion of Ravichandran Ashwin, but Shastri did not agree to it.
MSK Prasad said on ESPN Cricinfo, ‘I am still in favor of including Ashwin. Because you are playing in Asian conditions. He is a guy who can be effective against left handed batsmen. Ashwin will be useful.
Prasad said that the only thing that is running in my mind is Ashwin’s experience. This may be useful. Do you need two wrist spinners? This is one area that I am thinking about. Jadeja, Chahal and even Akshar are of the same style. If he misses, we will miss him.
On that argument, Shastri said, ‘I think it is Kuldeep’s job to sort out the left-handed batsmen.’ But MSK Prasad further said, ‘Now we have this option. But even statistically, the best left-handed batsmen struggled against him. We should not forget that we are playing in India and Sri Lanka which suits their bowling.
Then Shastri said, ‘Sometimes the talk of this left-handed batsman, right-handed batsman is given more importance. To be honest, I have dismissed a lot of left-handed batsmen as a left-arm spinner. I think lefties can’t bowl to lefties, that’s the principle. According to that principle, off-spinners cannot bowl to right-handed batsmen.
India will play its first match in the Asia Cup against Pakistan on 2 September. India can play three matches against their arch-rivals Pakistan if both the teams manage to make it to the finals. After the Asia Cup, India and Pakistan will clash in the ODI World Cup.
