Mumbai (Uttam Hindu News): The Indian women’s cricket team declared its second innings over at the score of 186/6. India has set a target of 479 runs to win against England in the four-day Test match being played at the DY Patil Stadium here on Saturday.

Captain Harmanpreet Kaur remained unbeaten on 44 runs in 67 balls and Pooja Vastrakar remained unbeaten on 17 runs in 41 balls. The duo put on 53 runs for the seventh wicket partnership which helped India recover from 133/6.

When captain Harmanpreet Kaur was on 44, the expectation was that she would get a chance to score her maiden half-century, but the Indian think tank seems to have thought that the bowlers would need to use the morning’s assistance from the pitch to cause some damage in England’s second innings. It would be the right thing to do.

The Indian women’s team has got a chance to play very few Tests. Harmanpreet Kaur also failed to score a half century in the first innings, she was run out on 49 runs.

However, keeping the interest of the team in mind, the captain decided to pass on the opportunity. Shubha Satish’s injury, due to which she could not bat in this innings, also seems to be a reason for the Indian team management to declare the innings.
