India has become the capital of women’s boxing: IBA President Kremlev

New Delhi | International Boxing Association (IBA) President Umar Kremlev on Tuesday described India as the capital of women’s boxing as the country gears up for its biggest boxing event with the IBA Women’s World Boxing Championships 2023. The tournament, organized by the Boxing Federation of India (BFI), is being held in India for the third time. This is the most for any country in the history of the championship. The last two editions took place in 2006 and 2018 in New Delhi.
Addressing the media during the press conference, Kremlev said, “India has become the capital of women’s boxing and now together we are witnessing a historic moment. Normally 250 to 260 boxers participate in such championships, but It’s a big championship this year.”
The upcoming 13th season of the tournament will see participation of over 300 boxers from 65 countries competing for the title as well as a whopping Rs 20 crore prize pool across 12 weight categories.(IANS)
