India has got the best contender for number-4: Akash-Ojha

New Delhi. India won the third match of the five-match T20 series by seven wickets after trailing 0-2. In this series, Tilak Verma, who is in excellent form, once again batted well.

The countdown to the ODI World Cup 2023 has begun. This mega-event is going to start in India from 5 October, whose final match will be played on 19 November.

All the teams are engaged in preparations for this tournament but there are some aspects which remain a headache for the Indian team. Number-4 batting position is one of them.

This is because India’s key players Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul, who usually play at this number, have been injured for a long time and are currently undergoing a rehab process at the NCA. It is not yet decided whether he will play the World Cup.

Meanwhile, Pragyan Ojha named the Indian team player for this position who has made his debut for Team India in the ongoing T20 series against West Indies and is impressing everyone with his batting.

Pragyan tweeted and wrote, “Is there any possibility of including Tilak Verma to end the number 4 problem for the Indian team in ODIs?”

Aakash Chopra supported Ojha’s idea but said that there is another side to it.

Aakash Chopra said, “Usually, we forget those who are not there. There has been a constant debate about the number 4 position. We talked about it during the ODI series as well. We saw three different batsmen at that position, Axar Patel was also tried at that position even though he was not a candidate for that position. We were still discussing about Shreyas Iyer or KL Rahul. If he comes back, I think Tilak should wait. But at this point of time, if we don’t see him, why not try Tilak.(IANS)
