India reaches top in World Test Championship table, New Zealand on second after defeat

Dubai: India have moved to the top of the World Test Championship table as New Zealand dropped two places after their defeat to Australia in the Wellington Test on Sunday. Before the Wellington Test, New Zealand were on top of the table with 36 points and 75 points percentage from four matches.
Today, after a massive 172-run defeat by New Zealand, the 2021 WTC champions lost the top spot and dropped to second place with 60 per cent marks. India has benefited from the victory over Australia in the World Test Championship points table and has reached the top of the table with 64.58 points percentage. India has won five out of eight Test matches and one match was drawn.
Australia is third in the table, with a percentage of 59.09 and 78 points. Australia has won seven out of 11 Tests. He has faced defeat in three and one test has been a draw.
Whereas Bangladesh is at fourth place with 50 marks percentage. Pakistan’s marks percentage is 36.66 and it is at fifth position. West Indies is at sixth position with 33.33 points percentage and South Africa is at seventh position with 25 points percentage. After losing to India in the fourth Test, England’s points percentage is 19.44 and it has slipped to eighth place. England have so far won three out of nine Tests in the 2023-25 World Test Championship. Five matches have been lost and one test has been drawn. Sri Lanka is at ninth position with zero points percentage.
If India defeats England in the fifth and final Test starting in Dharamsala from March 7, then it will remain on top in the Test Championship points table. If the fifth Test is a draw or England wins, Australia and New Zealand could top the table. The second Test between New Zealand and Australia will begin in Christchurch on Friday.
