Indian hockey team ready to challenge Australia before Paris Olympics

Perth. The Indian men’s hockey team, which is in excellent form, will aim to perform well in the five-match Test series against Australia starting here from Saturday to strengthen its preparations before the Paris Olympics. This series will give India an opportunity to assess its strengths and weaknesses before the Paris Olympics. Head coach Craig Fulton said, “This series is very important in preparation for the Paris Olympics. We have to finalize our strategies and find out the aspects that need improvement.”

The Indian team is full of confidence after its brilliant performance in the FIH Pro League in February. India won three out of four matches in the Pro League in Bhubaneswar and remained unbeaten in Rourkela. It lost both the matches against Australia. Both the teams are in the same group in the Olympics, so both will get a chance to evaluate each other through the Test series.

Captain Harmanpreet Singh said, “We are ready for this challenge.” We know Australia is a tough opponent but we are confident in our ability and preparation. Our aim is not only to perform well in this series but also to improve ourselves as a unit.” There have been 43 matches between India and Australia since 2013, out of which Australia won 28 and India won eight, while seven matches were lost. There was a draw. The match will start at 2 pm.
