Indian men’s air pistol team won bronze medal in the World Championship

India’s campaign at the ISSF World Championships began on an impressive note with none of the six 10m air pistol shooters competing at the event securing a 2024 Paris Olympics quota but the Indian men’s 10m air pistol team winning a bronze medal on Thursday. Indian team members Shiva Narwal, Sarabjot Singh and Arjun Singh Cheema scored 1734 points. The German team managed to win the silver medal by staying nine points ahead of them. The Chinese team won the gold medal with a score of 1749. Narwal scored 579, Sarabjot 578 and Cheema scored 577. The Chinese team consisted of Zheng Bowen (587), Liu Junhui (582) and Shi Yu (580).
For Germany, Robin Walter shot 586, Michael Schwald shot 581 while Paul Frohlich shot 576. China won all four gold medals at stake while none of India’s shooters could make it to the eight-man final in the individual section. Narwal finished 17th while Sarabjot finished 18th after the qualification round. Cheema finished 26th. The individual gold medal was won by China’s Bowen (244.3). Serbia’s Damir Mikech (240.8) took the silver while Kirill Kirov (215.7) of Bulgaria took the bronze.
In the women’s 10m air pistol, the team of Isha Singh (572), Palak (570) and Divya TS (566) finished 11th with a score of 1708 and could not make it to the finals. China won the gold medal with a score of 1728 while Hungary (1726) got the silver and Iran (1724) got the bronze. In the individual category, Isha was 32nd in qualification, Palak was 40th and Divya was 66th. Jiang Renxin (239.8) of China won the gold medal. The tournament is also a qualifying tournament for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
