Indian men’s hockey team will participate in the four-nation tournament in South Africa

The Indian men’s hockey team will take part in a four-nation tournament starting January 14 in South Africa in preparation for the Paris Olympics, in which it will face the host nation, along with France and Netherlands.
According to a Hockey India release, before the tournament, the 39-member core group will participate in the national coaching camp which will begin from Wednesday at the Sports Authority of India campus in Bengaluru. The Indian team, which has already qualified for the Paris Olympics, will leave for Cape Town after an 11-day camp. The tournament, which will run till January 28 in South Africa, will also give the Indian team an opportunity to prepare for the Pro League to be held in Odisha in February.
India has to face Australia, Netherlands, Spain and Ireland in the Pro League. Indian hockey team head coach Craig Fulton said, “Our players are returning refreshed after celebrating holidays with their families. We will start the hockey season with a tour of South Africa. Our schedule from here till Paris Olympics will be very busy. Our core group includes experienced players.
The players selected for the core group are as follows:
Goalkeepers: Krishna Bahadur Pathak, Sreejesh PR, Suraj Karkera, Pawan, Prashant Kumar Chauhan.
Defenders: Jarmanpreet Singh, Surender Kumar, Harmanpreet Singh, Varun Kumar, Amit Rohidas, Gurinder Singh, Jugraj Singh, Mandeep Mor, Neelam Sanjeep Zess, Sanjay, Yashdeep Siwach, Dipson Tirkey, Manjeet.
Midfielders: Manpreet Singh, Hardik Singh, Vivek Sagar Prasad, Moirangthem Rabichandra Singh, Shamsher Singh, Neelkanth Sharma, Rajkumar Pal, Sumit, Akashdeep Singh, Gurjant Singh, Mohammad Raheel Mousin, Maninder Singh.
Forward: S Karthi, Mandeep Singh, Lalit Kumar Upadhyay, Abhishek, Dilpreet Singh, Sukhjeet Singh, Simranjeet Singh, Shilanand Lakra, Pawan Rajbhar.
