Indian national cricket team: BCCI will prepare Arjun Tendulkar, another step towards entry in Team India

New Delhi: Team India is going through a phase of change. After the defeat in the World Test Championship final, there has been a lot of turmoil. Fans have started demanding retirement of senior players and to set them up at home. It is suggested to prepare separate squads for all the three formats. Meanwhile, the Indian Cricket Board has shortlisted 20 all-rounders and called them to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru for special training. The training camp will be held in August, in which the name of Arjun Tendulkar is also included. Sachin Tendulkar’s only son Arjun may be from Mumbai, but he plays first-class cricket for Goa. He also got a chance to debut for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2023. Chetan Sakaria, Abhishek Sharma, Mohit Redkar, Manav Sutar, Harshit Rana, Divij Mehra, Yara Prithviraj are among the many versatile players ready to get into action mode at the elite level as soon as possible.
A senior board source said, “The Emerging Asia Cup (Under 23) is to be held later this year and the BCCI is looking for youngsters. The all-rounders’ camp was the suggestion of VVS Laxman, NCA’s head of cricket, so that we can find versatile cricketers in all formats.
The senior national selection committee, headed by Shiv Sunder Das, is learned to have selected the players on the basis of performance and potential. The source said, ‘Not every player involved in the camp is a pure all-rounder. Some bowling all-rounders and some batting all-rounders. The aim is to hone their talent and prepare them to play at the top.
