India’s Deepak Chahar withdraws from South Africa tour, Shami also out

Mumbai Deepak Chahar has informed the BCCI that he will not be available for the upcoming ODI series against South Africa due to a family medical emergency. BCCI said in a statement on Saturday that the selection committee has included Akash Deep in the team in his place.
BCCI further said that Mohammed Shami’s participation in the Test series was dependent on fitness. Shami has not been cleared by the BCCI medical team and the fast bowler has been ruled out of the Test.
BCCI said in a statement, “After the first ODI on December 17 in Johannesburg, Shreyas Iyer will join the Test team to prepare for the Test series. He will not be available for the second and third ODIs.”
“Team India (senior men) head coach Rahul Dravid, batting coach Vikram Rathore, bowling coach Paras Mhambrey and fielding coach T Dilip will join the Test squad and oversee preparations for the Test series,” the BCCI said.
The India A coaching staff will be assisted by batting coach Sitanshu Kotak, bowling coach Rajib Dutta and fielding coach Ajay Ratra.
ODI team: Rituraj Gaikwad, Sai Sudharsan, Tilak Verma, Rajat Patidar, Rinku Singh, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (captain and wicketkeeper), Sanju Samson (wicketkeeper), Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mukesh Kumar, Avesh Khan, Arshdeep Singh, Akash Deep.
