Kuala Lumpur. Former world No. 1 Kidambi Srikanth crashed out in the second round of men’s singles after losing in straight games to Hong Kong’s Ng Ka Long on Thursday.

Kidambi Srikanth boosted Indian spirits with a thrilling win over Jonathan Christie, but alas, his journey ended in the second round against Hong Kong’s Ng Ka Long.

As the sun set on the singles campaign, disappointment continued with the exit of HS Prannoy, Lakshya Sen and absence of PV Sindhu. Akarshi Kashyap fought bravely but lost in the first round of the women’s singles, leaving Indian fans yearning for more.

Yet, amid the singles struggle, a ray of hope emerged in the doubles arena. The dynamic duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty showcased their skills and continued the momentum of their stellar 2023 performance. They defeated the French pair, Lucas Corvi and Ronan Labour, in an impressive straight games victory with a score of 21-11, 21-18.

With the quarter-finals round the corner, Satwiksairaj and Chirag were eagerly awaiting their clash against China’s He Ji Ting and Ren Jiang Yu as they aim to keep the Indian flag flying high in the international badminton arena.
