India’s Priyanshu Rajawat also made it to the second round. He got a walkover against Thailand’s Kunlavut Witidsarn. Rajawat, however, will not have an easy road ahead in the second round as he will face the winner of the match between Denmark’s Hannes-Kristian Solberg Vittingas and second seeded local Anthony Sinisuka Ginting.
Aakarshi Kashyap got defeated
India’s young female player Aakarshi Kashyap, however, had to face defeat in the first round of women’s singles. Aakarshi had no answer to Korea’s second seed Aan Se Young and had to face defeat 10-21 4-21.
Sindhu also got victory in the first round
India’s star badminton player PV Sindhu registered a straight game win against local contender Grigoria Mariska Tunjung in the first round on Tuesday. He had to face defeat against this Indonesian player in Madrid Masters and Malaysia Masters this year. Sindhu, a two-time Olympic medallist, who was eliminated in the first round of the last two matches, defeated her Indonesian opponent 21-19 21-15 in 38 minutes to make it to the pre-quarterfinals.
