The wrestlers claimed that the promises made to them were not fulfilled and their demands were not met despite assurances.

Wrestling is part of the Olympics

Since wrestling is also a part of the Olympic Games, the government has written to the Indian Olympic Association asking it to elect an executive committee within 45 days. Along with this, there has also been talk of formation of an ad-hoc committee to look into the works of the federation. The letter states that it is requested that within 45 days of the constitution of the WFI Executive Committee by the IOA, a temporary committee or an ad-hoc committee may be constituted to conduct the elections and manage the affairs of the WFI.

Protesting wrestlers are adamant on their demand

The protesting women wrestlers thanked their elders and khap panchayat members for their support. Vinesh Phogat said in a video that we want to thank all our elders and Khap Panchayat members, who came to protest with us and support us last time also. We apologize for the politics that was done to us and the mistakes that were made by us because of that. We are sorry that you came to support us and stand by us and we ended the protest in a hurry.
