70 league matches in 12 cities in 52 days
During this tournament, which will run till May 29, 74 matches will be organized in 12 cities of the country. There will be a total of 70 matches between 10 teams in IPL in 52 days. Each team will play 14 matches. Seven in their home, then seven in the home of the opposition team. There will be 70 league stage matches between 10 teams. Top-4 teams in the points table will play in the playoffs. The teams have been divided into two groups each and all the teams will not face each other twice. All the teams will play one match each against the teams of their group. At the same time, it will have two matches against the other group. In this way 14-14 matches of each team will be completed.
Opening ceremony will return after four years
Before the match on Friday, the opening ceremony will be organized from 6 pm. In this, many Bollywood stars including actress Tamannaah Bhatia and singer Arijit Singh will perform. For the first time after 2018, there will be an opening ceremony in IPL. In 2019, the opening ceremony was cancelled. The CRPF jawans who were martyred in the attack in Pulwama on February 14 were given the money to be spent in the opening ceremony. For the next three years, due to Corona, there was no opening ceremony in the tournament.
New rule will increase more excitement
1. Teams will make changes in playing XI
After the start of the match under the Impact Player rule, before the 14th over, teams will be able to change a player in the playing-11.
2. Announcement of playing XI after the toss
Till now the captains had to announce the playing XI before the toss, but this season they will be able to announce after the toss.
3. DRS for wide and no-ball
Teams can take DRS if they do not agree on the umpire’s decision of wide or no-ball in IPL.
4. Dead Ball on Unfair Movement
The fielder makes an unfair movement while the ball is being bowled, the ball will be a dead ball. 5 runs will be given as penalty.
5. In-match punishment for slow over rate
All the overs that will be bowled after the cutoff time, during that time only four players will remain on the boundary.
Commentary in Bhojpuri also
For the first time, there will be commentary in Punjabi, Oriya and Bhojpuri languages as well. Star Sports will have commentary in Hindi, English Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Marathi, Gujarati, Bengali, Malayalam. The match will be broadcast live on Jio Cinema in 12 languages.
Opening match clash between Chennai and Gujarat
The opening match will be played between defending champions Gujarat Titans and four-time IPL winner Chennai Super Kings on Friday. Both the teams would like to start the tournament in a grand style by making this match their name. In such a situation, a fight can be seen between Hardik and Dhoni’s army.
