First qualifier between top-2 teams
The first qualifier is played between the top-2 ranked teams in the IPL. The winning team gets a direct entry in the finals. And the loser goes to Qualifier-2. This is followed by the Eliminator. The winning team of the Eliminator makes it to Qualifier-2. And the losing team is out of the tournament. The Eliminator is played between the third and fourth placed teams in the table.
The winner of Qualifier-2 makes it to the final. That is, the final match of IPL is played between the winner of Qualifier-1 and Qualifier-2. The first match of IPL 2023 was played on 31 March. That match also took place at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Now the final will also be held on the same ground. Last year also the final match was played on this ground. Then the home team Gujarat Titans won the title by defeating Rajasthan Royals.
So far 28 matches have been played in IPL 2023. With 8 points, Rajasthan Royals are first in the table and Lucknow Super Giants are at number two with the same number of points. Chennai is at number three and Gujarat at number four. But the third to seventh team has equal 6-6 points. The only difference between them is the net runrate. Because of this, the playoff race is going to be interesting this time.
