ipl 2023 matches took more than 4 hours to complete

Taking 120 minutes to finish the innings
According to the rules, the match should end at 10.30 pm as each innings is of 90 minutes including time out. Most people assume that by 11 o’clock the match will be over because there is also a break of 20 minutes which is the time between the two innings. But in IPL it does not usually happen that the match gets over at the scheduled time. So after the end of the first innings, suddenly I saw that a lot of fans, especially those accompanied by women, children and families, started walking back home. Suddenly the crowd increased at Delhi Gate Metro Station. On enquiry, it was learned that everyone wanted to reach home before time.
Despite having tickets and going to the ground for matches in local cities, many people prefer to watch the second innings at home on TV or mobile only as the match is going on till 12 midnight. It is okay that in cities like Delhi and Ahmedabad, where there is metro rail facility near the stadium, the timing has been increased for the same late night, but the question arises that the one who has to go to work or school-college the next day should wait so long. Why did Tak stay at the stadium?
players have more delays
The players also face a lot of trouble due to matches ending late at night. Because after the match is over, works like prize distribution ceremony, team meeting are also done and then reaching the hotel it is 2-3 o’clock in the night. Now at what time will the players sleep because the next day is again a travel day. Because the teams then have to go to another city to play the match.
It means to say that if a single match ends late, then there may not be any problem, but if every match is delayed by one and a half to two hours, then everyone faces difficulties. But no one speaks openly on this. It is a good thing that Jos Buttler recently tweeted and drew everyone’s attention to this serious matter. If there is a chance of a super over in a match, then you again increase it by 30 minutes.
In such a situation, a few years ago, instead of 8 o’clock in the night, IPL decided to start the match from 7:30 in the evening, then it has no meaning left. In the past also TV broadcasters have clearly told BCCI that TV ratings drop drastically after 10.30 pm as most people go to sleep after that. In such a situation, the question now is that when will the IPL Governing Council wake up on this important issue?
