Mumbai| Mumbai Indians’ top-order batsmen squandered Venkatesh Iyer’s (104) brilliant century to hand their team a comfortable five-wicket win against Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL match on Sunday.

Kolkata scored 185 for six in 20 overs with Iyer’s century, while Mumbai scored 186 for five in 17.4 overs to get their second win. All five of Mumbai’s top-order batsmen scored runs. Coming in as a substitute, captain Rohit Sharma, who did not field due to stomach trouble, scored 20 runs in 13 balls with the help of one four and two sixes.

Ishaan Kishan hit five fours and five sixes in his stormy innings of 58 off 25 balls. Suryakumar Yadav, who was passing through the Golden Duck, finally came in form and scored 43 runs in 25 balls with the help of four fours and three sixes. Tilak Verma scored 30 and Tim David scored an unbeaten 24 off 13 balls with one four and two sixes.

After posting a good total, the Kolkata team bowled very badly. He scored a lot of runs in the powerplay, due to which the match completely went in favor of Mumbai. Two problems are plaguing Kolkata. The opening batsmen are not able to score runs and the opening bowlers are not able to get them wickets. Although the batting of Kishan and Rohit should be praised. The manner in which he started is commendable.

Earlier, with the stormy century of Venkatesh Iyer (104), Kolkata Knight Riders scored a challenging score of 185 for six but the bowlers could not defend it.

Mumbai bowlers curbed every batsman but could not stop Venkatesh. Venkatesh scored 104 runs in 51 balls with the help of six fours and nine sixes and the rest of the batsmen scored only 81 runs in the remaining 69 balls. Mumbai spinners bowled with amazing length and line and also the fast bowlers bowled well in the last over.

Venkatesh scored the second century of this IPL and the highest score so far. After Venkatesh, Andre Russell scored an unbeaten 21 runs in just 11 balls with the help of three fours and a six. Captain Nitish Rana was dismissed after scoring five runs while Shardul Thakur scored 13 and Rinku Singh scored 18 runs.

For Mumbai, Hrithik Shokeen took two wickets for 34 runs. Arjun Tendulkar, son of batting great Sachin Tendulkar, made his IPL debut in this match but could only bowl two overs in which he conceded 17 runs and went wicketless.
