New Delhi:Former India opener Virender Sehwag believes Chennai Super Kings bowlers are constantly letting down Mahendra Singh Dhoni and asked the bowlers to gear up to avoid the threat of a ‘ban’ on the talismanic skipper. The Super Kings posted 226 for six in their IPL match against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Bengaluru on Monday but the team struggled to defend the target as the bowlers bowled six wides.
The team of Chennai Super Kings, however, managed to win by eight runs in the end. Sehwag told Cricbuzz, “Dhoni was not happy as he had mentioned earlier that he wanted the bowlers to cut down on the number of no balls and wides.” He said, “It should not reach a situation where Dhoni is banned and the team has to take the field without its captain.” Superkings gave a total of 11 extra runs against RCB. Four-time IPL champions Superkings conceded 18 extra runs against Lucknow Supergiants and Dhoni warned them to cut back on the extra runs or be prepared to play under a new captain.

Sehwag said, ‘Dhoni has already talked about cutting wide and no ball. And bowling six wides is very disappointing. Pacer Tushar Deshpande bowled three wides, continuing his poor IPL run in this regard. Sehwag, however, looked more annoyed with spinner Mahesh Teekshana’s wide. He said, ‘It is very disappointing when you bowl so many wides, especially from a spinner. At least they can control their wide.
