IPL 2024: Shane Bond joins Rajasthan Royals, will play double role

Jaipur. Rajasthan Royals on Monday announced that former New Zealand fast bowler Shane Bond has joined the franchise in the dual role of assistant coach and the team’s new fast bowling coach ahead of the IPL 2024 season.
One of the finest fast bowlers of modern times, Shane Bond has in the past served as the bowling coach for his national team between 2012 and 2015, where he helped New Zealand reach the final of the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup Was.
He was then appointed by the Mumbai franchise in the IPL in 2015, which significantly contributed to their success in winning four titles in nine seasons. Under his guidance many fast bowlers, including famous names like Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult, have now turned into T20 specialists.
Welcoming the New Zealand legend to the franchise, Rajasthan Royals Director of Cricket Kumar Sangakkara said, “Shane is one of the greatest fast bowlers in modern cricket and brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge, having mentored some of the best players. He has worked for many years in the IPL and in India. He is someone who has a keen eye for helping the best become even better and we are delighted to welcome him.”
Meanwhile, Shane Bond expressed his views after signing with the Royals.
