IPL 2024: Suryakumar Yadav expected to join Mumbai Indians camp by Friday

New Delhi . Right-handed batsman Suryakumar Yadav is expected to join the Mumbai Indians camp for IPL 2024 by Friday. He can play in the team’s next match against Delhi Capitals at Wankhede Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Sources keeping an eye on the developments told IANS that Suryakumar will join the MI camp the day after tomorrow i.e. by April 5 after being declared fit to play by the National Cricket Academy (NCA). They are likely to meet their teammates on April 5 when the entire MI team returns to Mumbai after the ongoing break in Jamnagar, Gujarat.

Suryakumar last played competitive cricket in December 2023 during the T20I leg of India’s tour of South Africa. He suffered an ankle injury while fielding in the match. He scored 100 off 56 balls in the third T20I in Johannesburg, his fourth century in the format, where India won the series under his captaincy.

Suryakumar, who has won the ICC Men’s T20I Player of the Year award for 2022 and 2023, underwent sports hernia surgery in Munich, Germany on January 17, which has ruled him out of cricket action. His availability is a big boost for MI, who have been winless in the competition so far under Hardik Pandya.
