As reported by TOI, information has been received from Yuryaraopeta police that the Department of Telecom has alleged on a petition that 658 SIM cards were issued in Gunadala with a single photo identity. Similarly, 150 more SIM cards were issued on one identity in the surrounding areas.
The report says that all the SIM cards were registered in the name of Polukonda Naveen. It was also said that the person sells SIMs at mobile shops and other kiosks. Anyone can buy a sim card there. SIM cards were sold to many people in the city, many of whom are not using them.
Quoting a local police officer, the report states that such SIM cards are sold with offers and later people stopped using the SIM cards. After software investigation, it was found that there was a SIM card distributor who had hundreds of SIM cards registered and sold them all.
