Union Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology (IT) Rajeev Chandrasekhar has said that the government is fully committed and ready to support the industry in developing state-of-the-art competitive systems. He said at an event that India has an exciting opportunity and to make use of that opportunity, it should focus on developing commercially and globally competitive technology.

Addressing the ‘Digital India Rix-V Symposium’ through video conference, he said, the government is fully committed to ensure that the DIR-V (Digital India Rix-V) microprocessor is Indian ISA (Instruction Set Architecture), And we stand ready to support the industry in developing state-of-the-art competitive systems.

The Government of India has started the Digital India Risk-V Microprocessor program to make microprocessors under the ‘Self-reliant India’ campaign. Risk stands for ‘reduced instruction set computer’ and ‘V’ stands for fifth generation. The RISK-V project started in 2010.

What is Digital India RISC-V Microprocessor Program?

The Digital India RISC-V Microprocessor Program is a program initiated by the Government of India with the objective of making India a major global player in the field of RISC-V microprocessors. Under this program, the Indian government will promote research and development for the development and manufacturing of RISC-V microprocessors, as well as promote collaboration between industry and academia in this area.

‘RISC’ stands for ‘Reduced Instruction Set Computer’ and ‘V’ stands for fifth generation. RISC-V is an open and open source microprocessor architecture, making it perfect for customization and innovation. RISC-V microprocessors can be used in a wide variety of devices, including smartphones, tablets, laptops, servers, and sensors.

The Digital India RISC-V microprocessor program will boost the country’s digital economy by making India a major global player in the field of RISC-V microprocessors. This program will help India to create new industries and employment opportunities, and will help in making the country a self-reliant and powerful nation.

This program is an important part of the Atmanirbhar Bharat Mission of the Government of India. The program will help India become a major global player in the field of RISC-V microprocessors, and boost the country’s digital economy.
