John Barry, who plays for England, is also known as Jack Hobbs in the cricket world. Hobbs holds the record for scoring the most runs and centuries in first class matches in cricket history.

Jack Hobbs played a total of 834 first class cricket matches in his career in which he scored 61760 runs at an average of 50.70. During this, Hobbs played 199 century innings. No other cricketer in the world has done such a feat.

Hobbs scored a century at the age of 46.

Not only the record of runs and centuries in the first class, Jack Hobbs has also done the feat of scoring a century at the oldest age. Hobbs did the feat of scoring a century in Tests for England in 46 years. Hobbs continued to play cricket till the age of 50. For this reason he was given the name of ‘The Master’. Apart from this, he was also the first professional cricketer to get the title of Knight.

Talking about Hobbs’ Test career, he played a total of 61 matches in his career in which he scored 5410 runs. During this he played 15 century innings. His average in Test cricket was 56.94. At the same time, his highest score in this format is 211 runs.

Don Bradman is also behind Hobbs

It is believed in world cricket that there was no bigger cricketer than Australia’s Don Bradman. Bradman played a total of 234 first class matches in his career in which he scored 28067 runs. During this, he scored 117 centuries while his average was 95.14. Hobbs was behind Bradman only in terms of average. At the same time, Bradman played 52 matches in Test cricket, in which he scored 6996 runs at an average of 99.94. Bradman has 29 centuries in Tests.
