Jaiswal’s century, Rest of India eight wickets away from victory

Gwalior (Uttam Hindu News): Young talented batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal (144) scored a brilliant hundred as Rest of India set Madhya Pradesh a target of 437 on the fourth day of their Irani Cup match on Saturday. Madhya Pradesh scored 81 runs losing two wickets before the end of the day’s play.
Jaiswal, who scored a double century in the first innings, scored 144 off 157 balls with 16 fours and three sixes. With this, Jaiswal became the first batsman to score a double century and a century in the same Irani Cup match.
Rest of India, who took a 190-run lead in the first innings, did not start the fourth day well. Madhya Pradesh took four wickets in the first five overs of the day and half of the Rest of India team returned to the pavilion for 122 runs.
While the wickets of the rest of India continued to fall on one hand, Jaiswal took the lead from the other side and took the team to a score of 246 runs. Apart from this, Atit Seth scored 30 runs off 57 balls with five fours and a six, while Pulkit Narang contributed 15 runs.
For Madhya Pradesh, Shubham Sharma, Saransh Jain, Ankit Kushwaha and Avesh Khan took two wickets each, while Kumar Kartikeya got a breakthrough.
Arham Aqeel, chasing the target for Madhya Pradesh, fell victim to Mukesh Kumar on the second ball of the innings, though captain Himanshu Mantri handled the innings.
Himanshu shared a 51-run partnership for the second wicket with Shubham Sharma (13). Shubham was bowled by Saurabh Kumar before the end of the day’s play, although Himanshu (51) is at the crease after completing his half-century. Himanshu is joined by Harsh Gowli (15 not out).
