Jammu and Kashmir wins National T20 Disabled Cricket Championship

Udaipur. Jammu and Kashmir state disabled cricket team won the third edition of the National T20 Disabled Cricket Championship by defeating Mumbai by 35 runs in the final.
Jammu and Kashmir’s Majeed gave an all-round performance in the final, scoring 37 runs in 21 balls and taking two wickets for 25 runs and won the Player of the Match award.
Captain Wasim Iqbal was named Player of the Tournament for scoring 229 runs at a strike rate of 177.52 and taking 17 wickets at an economy of only 6.13 in eight matches.
In the final held on Sunday, Ravindra Sante-led Mumbai won the toss and decided to bowl first.
Jammu and Kashmir, who came to bat, scored 161/6 runs in 20 overs, in which Jafar Bhat (43 runs on 39 balls) and Majid (37 runs on 21 balls) played brilliant innings.
In reply, Mumbai’s innings had a very poor start and the team lost both its openers inside the powerplay. Vikrant Kenny (46 off 43 balls) tried to hold one end, but the team could not build a long partnership and lost by 35 runs with the score at 126/10 in 20 overs.
Earlier, in the semi-finals held on Saturday, Jammu and Kashmir had defeated Maharashtra by 91 runs, while Mumbai had a close 2-run win over Vidarbha.
Mumbai’s Rohan Bhoir finished as the top run scorer of the tournament with 322 runs in eight innings, while his teammate Ravindra took the most wickets (18).
The winning team was given a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh, finalist Mumbai received Rs 3 lakh, while semi-finalists Maharashtra and Vidarbha were given a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh each.

Known as the 3rd Disabled T20 Cricket Championship 2023, conducted by Rajasthan Royals, the competition created history as it entered the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest cricket tournament for physically challenged cricketers with the participation of over 400 talented disabled cricketers.
