Therefore, the family members and relatives put a lot of pressure on his father to remarry, but he flatly refused to remarry.

Manju says- ‘When I grew up a bit, I came to know from other people that my father did not want to remarry so that he could give me and my brother a better upbringing. My father always wanted me to do something better in my life and be happy always. I never knew my mother, but grandmother and father have always been like my mother to me. My father left no stone unturned in teaching us brothers and sisters even after the condition of the house was not good and we also helped as much as possible.

First medal won in the year 2016

During the selection in the Sports Authority of India center, Manju Rani thought that I just want to become an athlete. After this she didn’t care about anyone and then reached Sai Center Badal, where coach Pratipal Kaur got her running first, but she didn’t fit in it, then she did race walking, she got selected and started race walking. At the age of just 15, he represented his state for the first time and won a medal. Won a bronze medal in two months and a silver medal after a year. When Manju started winning medals, family members and relatives also started supporting her. After this Manju never looked back.

aspire to win a medal in the Olympics

After breaking Ramandeep Kaur’s record in the 10th National Race Walking Championship, Manju wants to achieve even better in her sport. Now his next target is to win the gold medal in the year 2024 and 2028 Olympics. He has one more wish. She says- ‘My father never traveled far from the village. Once he traveled in a bus when he took me to the Sai Center in Badal. He never even boarded a train or plane. If I qualify for the Olympics, I want to take my father there.

People mocked but father gave full support

Manju says- ‘I was 14 years old. Then a teacher of my school told me that a trial for selection is going to be held at the Sports Authority of India center in Badal village. Our teacher took me and some other girls also for trial. At that time I arrived in my school uniform white salwar kameez while girls from other parts of the state had arrived in T-shirts and track pants. At that time I felt a bit embarrassed, but I gave the trial in this dress. Finally I got selected. However, it was difficult for me to leave home and go somewhere so far away. People used to say that I do not have a mother and I will fall into wrong company outside the house, but at that time it was my father who supported me.
