Jharkhand: Chief Electoral Officer cum Secretary of Jharkhand has written a letter to all the district election officials. It has been said that the transfer-posting process should be completed in Jharkhand before the Lok Sabha elections.

Chief Electoral Officer cum Secretary K Ravi Kumar has said that the Election Commission of India had written a letter on 21 December 2023 directing that before the Lok Sabha general elections 2024, transfer of all those police and administrative officials associated with the election work should be ensured. Posted at the same place for the last 3 years.

Chief Electoral Officer of Jharkhand said – there was no complete compliance
K Ravi Kumar has said that in the information given by the districts, it is clear that transfer-posting has been done by the concerned department, but many officials at the district level have not been allotted a new place. . At the same time, there are some officials who have not yet contributed at the new place. Due to this, many important works related to elections are being affected. This is having an adverse effect on the preparations for the Lok Sabha elections.
These instructions have been given to the officers
Chief Electoral Officer cum Secretary has said that immediate action should be taken in such cases and the transferred officials should be released to the new place within two days. Also, ensure the contribution of the officials who have been released from the old place at the new place.

Lok Sabha elections can be announced any time
The Chief Electoral Officer has said that Lok Sabha general elections can be announced any time. Once the elections are announced, the permission of the Election Commission of India will be necessary for transfer-posting of any official. He has written in the letter that complete information about transfer-posting has to be given to the Election Commission of India by 3 pm on 26 February 2024.
Election Commission has written letters several times till now
The letter further states that if it happens that in the case of any officer, he was not released despite transfer or despite being released, he did not contribute at the new place, then the instructions of the Commission will be issued to the officers responsible for this. According to this, punitive action will be taken. It would be relevant to mention here that the Election Commission had written letters to all the states in this regard on 21 December 2023, 27 December 2023, 31 January 2024, 9 February 2024 and 19 February 2024. Let us tell you that Lok Sabha elections can be held in Jharkhand also in April-May.
