For host India, Salima Tete scored in the sixth and 36th minutes while Navneet Kaur also scored in the 36th minute. India ended its campaign in the group stage by finishing at number one in the points table with 15 points with five consecutive wins in five matches. Thailand did not win even one of the five matches

Apart from India, teams from China, Japan and Korea were also successful in making it to the semi-finals. Now India will face Korea in the semi-finals while Japan will face the challenge of China. Earlier in the first match of the day, Malaysia defeated Thailand 2-0. For Malaysia, Noor Mohammed scored in the 25th minute and Noor Yousaini scored in the 52nd minute. In the second match, China defeated Japan 1-0. The only goal for China came in the eighth minute off the stick of Bingfeng Jiyu. China finished the league stage with nine points from five matches with three wins and two losses. Thailand did not win even one of the five matches and had to face defeat in all five.

Malaysia is at fifth position with four points

Malaysia finished the league stage in fifth position with four points from five matches with one win, one draw and three losses. Malaysia and Thailand did not make it to the semi-finals and were eliminated. A total of six teams are participating in this tournament being played on the basis of round robin league stage. Apart from host India, these include teams from China, Japan, Korea, Malaysia and Thailand. After the league stage, the top 4 teams in the points table will qualify for the semi-finals. India is searching for its first title since 2016. The Indian team has won silver medals in 2013 and 2018.
