Mumbai The advent of 5G led by Jio has taken India’s telecom sector to new heights. India has been included in the top 15 countries of the world. Broadband speed and measurement firm ‘Ookla’ has said in its report released on 5G performance and user experience in India that Reliance Jio has emerged as the biggest in the race for 5G supremacy. According to the Department of Telecommunications, 4.25 lakh BTS have been installed in India by February 2024, of which about 80 percent is from Reliance Jio.

Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel have invested heavily in expanding 5G networks across India. As a result, a significant increase in 5G availability has been seen in India. Which has increased from 28.1 percent in the first quarter of 2023 to 52.0 percent in the fourth quarter of 2023.

Jio’s extensive 5G coverage is evident from its 5G availability rate. During the fourth quarter of 2023, it has been more than half of its rival Airtel and more than 100 percent. Jio’s rate increased to 68.8 percent, which was reduced to 30.3 percent for Airtel.

Reliance Jio’s 5G network recorded a faster video start time of 1.14 seconds compared to Airtel’s 5G network, which was 1.99 seconds. India is now among the top 15 countries worldwide in terms of 5G average download speed.
