Berlin, 20 September (Hindustan Reporter). Former Bayern Munich coach Julian Nagelsmann has been appointed as the temporary head coach of the Germany national football team. Nagelsmann, 36, becomes the youngest coach since the appointment of 39-year-old Jurgen Klinsmann in 2004, Xinhua reported. He will take over as coach until the UEFA Euro 2024 tournament next July.
Ten days ago, Hansi Flick resigned as coach following a group stage exit at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and poor performances in several friendlies. Nagelsmann has agreed to a fixed-term agreement with Germany. He plans to continue his career with a club next summer.
Nagelsmann’s contract with Bayern until 2026 has expired. In 2021, Nagelsmann left RB Leipzig, signing a contract with Bayern, with the Bavarian side paying a world record 25 million euros as compensation to his former club. In March 2023, Nagelsmann was sacked from Bayern, replaced by former Chelsea coach and 2021 Champions League winner Thomas Tuchel.
