Junior Women Team leaves for South Africa tour

The Indian junior women’s hockey team left for South Africa from the Kempegowda International Airport here on Tuesday morning. The Indian team, led by skipper Preeti, will face the South African junior women’s hockey team and the South Africa-A team from February 17 to 25. Rutaja Dadaso Pisal has been given the responsibilities of the vice-captain.
Expressing her excitement about playing in South Africa, Preeti said, ‘Everyone in the team is very excited to play in South Africa. This is the first tour for some of the players and we are ready for the challenge. We just completed a very good camp at the National Sports Authority of India (SAI) center in Bengaluru where we also got a chance to watch the senior team closely.
He said, ‘This match against South Africa will be a good exposure tour before the Asia Cup Under-21. These matches in South Africa will help us understand the areas that need improvement. The Indian girls will take on the South Africa U-21 team on February 17, 18 and 20, while they will face the South Africa ‘A’ team on February 24 and 25.
