Ahmedabad. India’s 1983 World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev has claimed that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had ‘not invited’ him to watch the final of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023.
There are prayers across the country for India to win the Cricket World Cup title for the third time. But Kapil Dev is a little angry.
In an interview with ABP News, Kapil Dev claimed that he was not invited for the match, when asked if he would participate in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 final.
Kapil Dev said, “I would have liked to have called my entire team of 83, it would have been even better. But, so much work is going on. There are so many people. There is so much responsibility. Sometimes people forget.”
Kapil Dev’s Indian team won the ODI World Cup trophy for the first time in 1983 by defeating West Indies in the final.
Kapil Dev said, earlier, some media reports had suggested that BCCI may honor previous World Cup-winning captains.
