England batsman Harry Brook has scored the first century of IPL 2023 season on Friday. On the basis of his innings, Sunrisers Hyderabad scored a mammoth score of 228 for four against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Brook arrived in style in the IPL by hitting four fours and two sixes in the first three overs.
Sunrisers Hyderabad bought Brook for Rs 13.25 crore, he could only score 29 runs in the first three matches. But he finally got the rhythm and played an unbeaten inning of 100 runs in 55 balls, in which 12 fours and three sixes were hit. Brook took full advantage of the lifeline he got on 45 runs and reached 50 runs in 32 balls.
Leg-spinner Suyyash Sharma had missed an easy chance to catch him on his own ball. When Brook was on 61, he changed the decision of being caught behind the wicket off Lockie Ferguson. He hit five fours in the same over of this New Zealand fast bowler. Brook completed his hundred by taking a single off Umesh Yadav in the last over.
After winning the toss and electing to bowl, KKR’s fielding let them down as KKR captain Aiden Markram also scored a 26-ball 50. Brook and Markram together added 72 runs in 47 balls. After Markram’s dismissal, young left-handed batsman Abhishek Sharma (32 runs, 17 balls) played well with Brooke. Both of them increased the difficulty of KKR by adding 72 runs in 33 balls.
Heinrich Klaasen played a useful inning of 16 not out in six balls. Barring Sunil Narine (28 runs in four overs) and Andre Russell (3 wickets for 22 runs in 2.1 overs), none of the KKR bowlers could impress. Russell could not complete his over due to muscle strain.
