Bangalore. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Virat Kohli has blamed weak fielding for his team’s 21-run defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Jason Roy’s blistering 56 (29) and skipper Nitish Rana’s blistering 48 off 21 balls took KKR to 200/5. Most of the RCB bowlers were expensive while they were also poor in fielding, dropping easy catches.
Then, Suyash Sharma eased the way for Kolkata by taking two wickets for 29 runs in the beginning. Chakraborty (3/27) and Russell (2/29) then restricted Bangalore to 179/8. This was RCB’s fourth consecutive defeat.
After the match, Kohli said, to be honest, we handed them the match. We deserved to lose. We handed them the victory. We definitely didn’t play well. If you look at the game, we didn’t capitalize on our chances. We missed some chances.
Kohli further said that his team’s batsmen could not take advantage of the loose balls.
We lost wickets on balls that shouldn’t have fallen. Despite losing wickets while chasing, we were just one partnership away from staying in the game. We needed it.
We need to switch on. No need to worry. We need to win a few games to be in a good position, Kohli said.
With two crucial points, KKR have moved up to seventh among 10 teams with six points while RCB are fifth with eight points(IANS)
