Labuschagne shines after Hazlewood-Starc New Zealand falls to 162

In the second Test match being played between New Zealand and Australia, Josh Hazlewood (5-31) made a record of taking five wickets in the innings for the 12th time in his 70th appearance. Mitchell Starc overtook former compatriot fast bowler Dennis Lillee, helping Australia bowl out New Zealand for 162 runs, after which Marnus Labuschagne scored an unbeaten 45.
Starc sent back Will Young for 14 after captain Pat Cummins won the toss and decided to field. New Zealand lost its first wicket for 47 runs.
New Zealand’s batting faltered in front of the brilliant bowling of Hazlewood and Starc. Both bowlers took a total of eight wickets.
Hazlewood began his attack by sending back Tom Latham (38) in New Zealand’s first innings. He was caught behind the wicket by Alex Carey and then gave another blow to the Kiwi team by dismissing all-rounder Rachin Ravindra for four runs.
Mitchell Starc overtook Dennis Lillee on the list of most Test wickets by an Australian bowler as he dominated the first two sessions on the opening day of the second Test against reigning ICC World Test Championship winners New Zealand.
Starc bowled strongly with figures of (3/59) to help bowl out the Kiwis for 162 at Hagley Oval. In front of Starc’s total wickets of 357, only Shane Warne (708), Glenn McGrath (563) and Nathan Lyon (527) are in the field while fellow fast bowler Hazlewood (271) is in the field.
Australia’s first innings was a flop. The team suffered early setbacks in the form of Steve Smith (11) and Usman Khawaja (16). However, Marnus Labuschagne scored an important 45 runs with the help of eight fours in 80 balls and formed an important partnership with Cameron Green (25).
Australia bowled out New Zealand for 162 runs in its first innings on Friday. In reply, Australia recovered from the initial wicket setback and scored 124 runs at the loss of 4 wickets.
