Indian badminton player Lakshya Sen would like to continue his brilliant streak in the Swiss Open Super 300 tournament starting on Tuesday, while experienced PV Sindhu will try to reach the pinnacle of her game once again. Lakshya has made a spectacular comeback after first round defeats in the Malaysia Super 1000 and India Open 750 earlier this year.

This 22-year-old player had reached the semi-finals in the French Open and All England Championship. The seventh-seeded Indian will begin his campaign against Malaysian Leong Jun Hao in the tournament with a prize money of $210,000 (about Rs 1.74 crore). He could face 2021 world champion Li Ji Jia if he clears the opening round hurdle. Former world number one Kidambi Srikanth will face Asian Games bronze medalist Wang Tzu-Wei of Chinese Taipei in the first round, while young Priyanshu Rajawat will face fourth seed Lee Cheuk Yiu of Hong Kong.

Sindhu had returned from the French Open earlier this month after recovering from a left knee injury, where her journey lasted till the quarters. However, she was then eliminated in the second round of the All England Championship. Like the All England Championship, two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu will face Germany’s Vonne Li in the first round. Last week, the German player left the match midway due to injury.

The other Indian in the women’s singles, Karshi Kashyap, has got a tough draw. She will start her campaign against Michelle Lee of Canada. The in-form sixth seeded pair of Tanisha Crasto and Ashwini Ponnappa will start their campaign against the Indonesian pair of Meilissa Trias Puspitasari and Rachel Alesya Rose. Eighth seeds Trisa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand will face American pair of Annie Xu and Kerry Xu in the first round.
