Mumbai | Harmanpreet Kaur, the first captain to lead India to 50 T20I wins, expressed happiness over being named captain of the Mumbai Indians team in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) and described it as an ’emotional moment’.

Speaking to MTV, Harmanpreet said, “I have seen the Mumbai Indians team achieve a lot of success on TV and now I will be a part of this team.”

In international cricket, Harmanpreet has been very successful as both a player and a captain. She is the only Indian batsman to score a century in this format and has managed to take India to the semi-finals or beyond in all three World Cups under her captaincy. Her aggressive style is being expected from Harmanpreet, who was the captain of the Indian team that won the silver medal in the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Harmanpreet said, “When you show aggression, the pressure also builds on the opposition team. It is important for me to support every player in his endeavor to play aggressive cricket.”
