Lionel Messi has once again changed his mind about retirement. The 36-year-old player said that he will say goodbye to his career only when he feels that he can no longer give his best.
According to the report of news agency Xinhua, Messi said in an interview with Big Time Podcast on Wednesday, “I know that the moment I feel that I am not able to do well anymore or I am not enjoying the game or If I am not helping my comrades, then I will retire that very moment.”
“I know when I play well and when I play poorly. When I feel the time has come to take this step, I will do so without thinking about age.”
“If I feel good, I will try to continue competing. This is what I like and I know how to do it.”
After leading Argentina to the FIFA World Cup 2022 title in Qatar, Messi said he has achieved everything he expected.
Messi said, “I have not thought about retirement yet. For now, I try to enjoy every day, every moment, without thinking about the future. So when the right time comes I will think about it.”
Messi has scored 16 goals and provided seven assists in 19 games for Inter Miami, whom he joined on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain last July.
