Kudu: Sushma Devi, wife of Arjun Oraon, resident of Navatoli of Kudu Panchayat, needs no introduction. Sushma Devi got married to Navatoli resident Arjun Oraon in the year 1990. The financial condition of the house was so bad that Sushma used to earn her living by selling bones and liquor in the market. Apart from this, he also worked as a daily wage laborer in a brick kiln. Despite this, the financial condition of the family did not improve. In the year 2005, ten women from Navatoli formed Mukti Mahila Group. Started a women’s meeting once a week on Thursday and started collecting ten rupees each. In the year 2006, a cow was found in 90 percent by the District Cow Development Department. After six months, a second cow was found.

From here the change in Sushma Devi’s life started. Working hard on the two cows he got in 2006, he repaid the bank loan within a year. Sushma’s hard work bore fruit. Bought two cows after two years. Similarly, both husband and wife started working hard in cow rearing. The results came out in two years. Till the year 2005, Sushma, who used to work as a laborer in Hadiya Daru and brick kiln, became so engrossed in the service of the cow that she could not find time. There was a time when milk was not available for worship in Kudu, but Sushma’s cow Due to rearing, fifty liters of milk from Kudu started going to Lohardaga Dairy every day. Presently Sushma has four milch cows and three heifers and supplies fifty liters of milk daily to Lohardaga Dairy. Taking inspiration from Sushma’s cow rearing, more than two dozen women of the block have started cow rearing.

Fortune changed due to cow rearing, got half a dozen honors

Sushma has changed her and her family’s life through cow rearing. Sushma’s three children Shashi Shweta Bada is preparing for competitive examination after taking engineering education in Jamshedpur, while one son Sumit Bada is preparing for ITI after taking education in BIT Mesra and the youngest son Sachin Oraon is studying in Netarhat Residential School. After studying Intermediate in school, she got selected in ITBP to serve the country. The result of Sushma’s dedication and hard work was that in the 2015 Panchayat elections, she was nominated for the post of head from Kudu Panchayat and won the election and became the head. . Despite being the head, Sushma herself does the work from five in the morning to cleaning the cow shed, feeding the cows, milking the cows and sending them to the dairy.

After this she does Panchayat work. In the Panchayat elections of 2021, she was again nominated for the post of Mukhiya and after winning, she was selected as Mukhiya. Meanwhile, if any villager approaches with a problem, she solves it. Sushma was honored in the field of cow rearing by the then Chief Minister Shibu Soren in the year 2012, by the then His Excellency Governor Syed Sibte Razi during the President’s rule in the year 2013, by Hemant Soren in the year 2014, by Arjun Munda in the year 2012, given the honor by the district administration, Maharashtra. Got the first prize of the state in the national seminar organized in Pune. Sushma tells that no work is difficult if you work hard. Due to hard work, I have achieved my position today and am raising my three children well.
